Career Advice
Career planning
Career planning is essential to achieving success in your chosen career. If you’re wondering what a career plan is and how it might help, you (like most people) probably don’t have one yet. A career plan is simply a goal. You decide where you want to take your career – then you make plans to get there.
About Apprenticeships and traineeships
Apprenticeships and traineeships let you combine paid work and training in an occupation of your choice and are designed specifically for each industry. In fact, there are qualifications available in more than 80% of occupations – that’s over 500 choices. With an Australian Apprenticeship you spend most of your time in paid employment, learning practical skills on-the-job.
Finding a job
Job hunting is a lot like climbing Mt Everest: The effort is in the journey but the pay off when you reach the top is fantastic! If you prepare, you can rest assured that the view will be amazing. Whether you’re just entering the job hunt, or a seasoned professional, it pays to plan.
Starting work
It took a lot of effort to get the job and to start working, so make the most of it and enjoy your new working environment. Wear your most appropriate favourite outfit on the first day. It will make you feel good, stand tall, and your confidence will infect those around you. Plan your trip to allow plenty of time to get to work, and make sure you eat a proper breakfast so you’re not looking for an opportunity to duck out and grab something mid–morning.
